Vehicle types

It often happens that task management requires the use of different types of vehicles, e.g. a refrigerated vehicle, a truck or a vehicle with a specific capacity. Routimo allows you to enter the types of vehicles that make up your car fleet and efficiently assign them to perform specific tasks.

To use the [Vehicle Types] option, you must first go to the [Projects] tab, click on the selected project, then edit the [Project Card] and set the tile to "Yes" next to Vehicle Types. You can also do this when creating a new route.

[Vehicle types] can be set in the [Vehicle Database] or in the [Project] in the [Vehicles] tab, then [Add vehicle] and enter a name characteristic of the given vehicle, e.g. "Refrigerated Truck" next to the types. The "Add Refrigerated Truck" item will appear on the list under the entered name. After clicking on it, the item will change to "Refrigerated Truck". You should select it and only then will the vehicle type be assigned and saved in the database. If you want to remove a vehicle type, you must go to the aforementioned tabs and click the red X next to the type in the window with the assigned name. The window will remain empty, but if you expand the list, all previously assigned vehicle types will be displayed. Because there is a database that you can use at will.

Once you have a vehicle database and planned projects, you can edit [Vehicles] using the pencil located on the right side of each vehicle or use the bottom menu (group operations button) located under the list of points. Using the aforementioned button, you can edit all or several selected vehicles at once.

Now let's go to the [Points] tab. Often, the points to which the vehicle is sent require special handling due to the specificity of the product. Therefore, a vehicle that is appropriate for the transport of specific goods should be sent there. The Vehicle Types function will greatly facilitate fleet management and planning routes adapted to the requirements of the transported goods.

As with vehicles, you can assign [Vehicle Types] that are required to operate at [Points] from a list previously created on vehicles. You can assign vehicle types to newly created points or when editing an existing point. You do this in the same way as when creating and editing vehicles, with the difference that you do not create additional types at points, but you can select it from an existing list.
You can assign multiple vehicles to a [Point] that meet the point's specific requirements.

The second way to assign a vehicle to a point is to edit it from the [Points] level in the [Projects] tab or in the [Points Database] tab. The screen displays a list of points with various information grouped in columns. In the [Vehicle Types] column, you can "Add" the appropriate vehicle type. If the point already has a vehicle type added, a vehicle icon with the number of vehicles will appear in the column next to the point. Clicking on it will display a list of vehicles assigned to the points. You can also remove the Vehicle Type assigned to the point from here.

When editing a point using the group operations button located below the list of points. All indicated points will receive the selected (one or more) vehicle types and previously assigned types will be deleted.
