An innovative approach to technological solutions and a pro-environmental mission are the features that distinguish the company from its competitors. <\/p>\n<h2>Business Challenge<\/h2>\n<p>HETMAN is characterized by dynamic growth\u2014the fleet increased by several dozen vehicles in 2020 compared to the previous year. The nature of the business makes garbage truck route planning complex, with a number of problematic issues. Routes are planned daily for each collection\/customer. Municipal collections are divided into 5 fractions, with routes planned for garbage trucks for each one. Additionally, there is a division between single-family and multi-family home collections. With such an extensive fleet and work characteristics, route planning using Google Maps proved to be time-consuming and did not meet the company&#8217;s expectations. At the initiative of the company&#8217;s logistics team and with management approval, the search began for a solution that would reduce planning time and optimize routes.      <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Route planning using Google Maps worked well with a small fleet. However, when the company began to expand, this solution proved insufficient. We wanted to maintain an 8-hour work schedule in a two-shift system. During this time, employees need to collect waste and finish work at the designated time. We therefore began searching for a professional application.<\/em>&#8221; &#8211; Arkadiusz J\u0119drzejko, Logistics Coordinator at PU HETMAN.<\/p>\n<h2>Solution<\/h2>\n<p>Considering the systems available on the market for vehicle route planning and optimization, PU HETMAN decided to start a free trial of the ROUTIMO application. The ROUTIMO system is a route optimizer consisting of a web application for logistics professionals\/dispatchers and a mobile application for drivers. Essential elements of cooperation with the system manufacturer are professional consulting and the ability to consult with ROUTIMO experts. The application trial at PU Hetman lasted one month. Automation in route planning translated into their quality and influenced crew work efficiency. The system is flexible and adapts to the company&#8217;s growth and its fleet.
