Business Challenge
HETMAN is characterized by dynamic growth—the fleet increased by several dozen vehicles in 2020 compared to the previous year. The nature of the business makes garbage truck route planning complex, with a number of problematic issues. Routes are planned daily for each collection/customer. Municipal collections are divided into 5 fractions, with routes planned for garbage trucks for each one. Additionally, there is a division between single-family and multi-family home collections. With such an extensive fleet and work characteristics, route planning using Google Maps proved to be time-consuming and did not meet the company’s expectations. At the initiative of the company’s logistics team and with management approval, the search began for a solution that would reduce planning time and optimize routes.
